This position will work closely with Product Engineering to define Manufacturing Requirements for Product changes or new Product Development of Fuel Cell Power Plants. The Manufacturing Engineer will work to implement changes to the existing Process or develop new Processes to enable Production of the new Design. This position involves close interaction with numerous engineering disciplines and hourly functions. Ability to work in a team environment is a must. Applicant must be comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
Work with Product Engineering and Assembly Area personnel to develop efficient methods for assembling product. Design or specify manufacturing equipment and processes as required
Plan and perform manufacturing process readiness tasks to standard work to ensure the proper Manufacturing Readiness Level is conducted
Maintain/complete all required manufacturing process documentation including process sheets, engineering changes, and non-conformance documentation
Responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing readiness process including tooling, equipment, facility readiness, and achieving the cost, quality, EH&S, and schedule goals
Identify cost-savings and quality improvement opportunities in new designs and track implementation projects in assigned areas and move them from concept to implementation
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and layout of equipment, material logistics, and workspace for maximum efficiency
Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
Lead PFMEA?s, EH&S reviews and Readiness reviews.
Must be able to support on-call responsibilities during off-shift hours
Minimum 5 years? experience in Product Development.
Minimum 5 years? experience in a high volume Production environment.
Experience with manufacturing technology/concepts and cost reductions.
Knowledge in electro-mechanical components
Experience with reading electrical and mechanical P&ID.
Familiarity with assembly of already built products into metal enclosures including knowledge of various assembly tools and fixtures
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Work independently, and proactively.
Experience with product introduction (prototype to pilot to volume ramp-up)
BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering
Varied computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
