The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Engineer is to support production including problem solving and maintenance of all process documentation. This position involves close interaction with numerous engineering disciplines and hourly functions. The 3rd shift ME will also act as hourly supervisor. Ability to work in a team environment is a must. Applicant must be comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic work environment. A strong commitment to continuous improvement and Root Cause Corrective Action is required.
Responsible for all aspects of the Assembly Process including Tooling, written instructions and all Process Documentation.
Work with Product Engineering and Assembly Area personnel to develop efficient methods for assembling product. Design or specify test equipment as required.
Maintain/complete all required Manufacturing Engineering documentation including process sheets, engineering changes, and non-conformance documentation.
Provide guidance/training for Associate Manufacturing Engineers and/or hourly employees on assigned tasks and projects. Coordinate schedules and work required by associates to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Identify cost-savings and quality improvement projects in assigned areas and move them from concept to implementation.
Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Lead electromechanical troubleshooting of Product and support equipment.
Participate in FMEA?s, EH&S reviews and investigation of component failures.
Must be able to support on-call responsibilities during off-shift hours.
EHS: Responsible for your team?s environmental health and safety practices. This includes, not only compliance to safety practices but leading the team to embrace the safety culture of the business unit.
Quality: Lead and coach the team members to be active in continuous improvement activities with special emphasis on 5S, TPM, Mistake proofing, and Set-up reduction. Work with the team on improving the processes and waste elimination to reduce the cost of poor quality. Attention to process control and product quality is essential.
Schedule: Responsible for setting and managing daily job assignments in response to master schedules. Interface closely with manufacturing engineering to provide standard works / other technical direction.
Administrative: Manage and document direct report?s attendance and overtime distribution. Assure accuracy of job charging. Represent the Company as Management?s representative at the oral step of the grievance process per the current labor agreement. Conduct timely ?tool box? talks to disseminate information to the team and perform individual one on ones.
Minimum Education Requirements:
BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering
Varied computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred Experience / Skills:
At least 4 years experience in manufacturing, preferably in a high volume production environment.
Experience with manufacturing technology/concepts and cost reductions.
Familiarity with assembly of already built products into metal enclosures including knowledge of various assembly tools and fixtures
Knowledge in electro-mechanical components
Experience with reading electrical and mechanical P&ID.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Work independently, and proactively.
Experience with product introduction (prototype to pilot to volume ramp-up)
