Manufacturing Engineer - Thermal HelioVolt
HelioVolt, a thin film solar modules manufacturing company focused on making high-performance, low-cost modules that provide superior diffused light performance and high energy yield, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer - Thermal to work in its south Austin facility.
The Manufacturing Engineer - Thermal is responsible for ramping, sustaining, and continuous improvement of our Photovoltaic Production Process and Equipment. This person will apply innovative process development, and electro-mechanical equipment expertise to create, maintain and improve production processes, optimize equipment efficiency, improve product quality and reduce cost. The Manufacturing Engineer - Thermal serves as the principal owner for specific processes and equipment used in the PV factory and is responsible for the successful continuous operation of their defined process and equipment; including providing leadership and assistance in logically troubleshooting and implementing solutions to manufacturing problems. General duites include:
? Testing and experimentation with research and development teams, gathering data to support or disprove merit
? Working closely with technicians and other engineering groups to optimize process and tool performance
? Optimizing equipment and process performance. Providing process improvements and equipment design changes that increase performance capability including throughput, process, uptime, and cost reduction.
? Training, developing, and working with with technicians to ensure stable and consistent production operations
? Monitoring the condition of all equipment and initiating necessary repairs needed to meet performance and production goals
? Utilizing project management skills to drive projects through various phases and to final closure
? Implementing calibration, testing, and control plans to minimize process variability, increasing yield and minimizing defects
? Maximizing production tool life through inspections, repairs and maintenance.
? Defining and maintaining process specifications, SPC charts, OCAPS, preventive maintenance procedures, documents and spares.
? Coordinating of all tool activities including manufacturing, PM, and experiment schedules
? Ensuring all engineering and manufacturing documentation is in place, controlled and maintained
? Working with cross functional teams to solve complicated hardware, process, and product defect issues
? Applying technical creativity and innovation skills to resolve equipment / process related issues and to ensure that solutions are technically feasible and deployable.
? Using of JMP and other statistical analysis tools to enable DOE evaluations and further product /prototype testing
? Bachelor?s degree in any science or engineering field
? 6+ years of directly related work experience in a field such as PV, LCD, FPD, or semiconductor manufacturing
? Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, 8D Problem Solving, Design of Experiments (DOE), PFMEA, TPM and SMED
? Exceptional troubleshooting skills involving equipment issues, temperature control, pneumatic, electrical, chemical delivery, 24V Control and PLC manufacturing equipment.
? Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and training skills. MS Word, MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Flowcharting, CAD, and JMP
? Rapid Thermal Process (RTP), Epitaxial Growth (EPI), Ion Implant Anneal, Remote Plasma Oxidation (RPO), and/or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) experience
? Strong electro-mechanical design, operation, and understanding
? Familiarity with gas delivery for atmospheric and vacuum processing
