The Manufacturing Test Engineer will be a key member of the technical team focused on commercialization of Micro-CHP fuel cell systems. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work in an extremely fast-paced environment, working closely with Design Engineers, R&D, Facilities, and Manufacturing Engineers to develop robust test processes, design testing equipment, design automated test reports, and perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on the testing equipment and devices under test.
Continuous improvement of the testing equipment and processes used for acceptance testing of fuel cell stacks, fuel processing systems, and CHP (combined heat and power) power plants.
Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain test equipment including gas analyzers, power supplies, process calibrators, mass flow controllers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and custom test rigs.
Create detailed test plans, work instructions, and PM procedures.
Troubleshoot devices under test, determine root cause of failures, and replace components or subsystems.
Provide daily leadership and guidance to the test technician team.
Analyze, interpret, and present data collected during testing to other functional groups within the organization.
Develop preventative maintenance schedules and maintain equipment calibration.
Feed ideas for component/system functional and reliability improvement to the Product Development team.
BS in Engineering or closely related technical field.
4 years of experience as a Test Engineer in a production, electronics, or automotive testing environment or related technical/engineering experience.
Experience testing fuel cell, fuel processor, and/or CHP power plant a plus.
Hands-on experience with diagnostic hardware: multi-meters, process calibrators, gas analyzers, and custom test rigs.
Hands-on experience with test software: LabView or similar.
Experience with database design and programming a plus.
Ability to read and understand written technical instructions, and P&ID diagrams.
Working knowledge of fluid systems/fittings (for example: SwageLok).
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Proficient PC skills (MS Office: Excel, Word, Outlook)
