Position Overview
The Marketing Communication Manager will serve a critical role to the Marketing team in thrusting Operative as a rapidly growing international company. With a wealth of top media company clients such as NBC Universal, MSN, Pandora, and The Wall Street Journal, you will be responsible for developing a robust customer program, working closely with Account Management to develop positive, engaging relationships with clients. Moreover, this role will manage Operative?s PR agency, ensuring a consistent messaging platform across various channels and industry influencers. This is a high visibility position, interfacing with all aspects of marketing and interacting with all levels of employees. We are looking for a highly skilled, highly motivated individual, comfortable working in a dynamic, fast moving work environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Customer Program Development & Management
Develop, manage, and execute:
Customer reference program
Client testimonials and case studies
Client webinar and speaking/panel opportunities (aiding with content)
Client surveys
Ensure clients? contracted Marketing commitments (e.g., video testimonial, selection press release, logo usage) are fully leveraged (balancing over- and under- utilization of clients)
Devise and monitor measurable success metrics
Work with the Account Management team to identify, develop and maintain positive relationships with Operative?s customer base for external-facing opportunities. This includes:
Establishing clear criteria for desirable clients
Creating and optimizing processes by which customers are approached (defining distinct roles between the MarCom Manager and Account Managers)
Keeping relevant parties (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Product) informed of client communications
Public & Analyst Relations Management
Manage and work with PR agency to implement communications programs that effectively promote Operative and its products and services. This includes:
Planning and directing strategic industry analyst activities to establish and build relationships with key analysts; ensure analysts can clearly and accurately articulate who we are and what we do
Serving as the key contact to review and provide final approval (on behalf of Operative?s stakeholders) on press releases, speaking and awards opportunities
Delivering monthly reports on public and analyst relations activity, coverage, and (in collaboration with the Social Media Associate) social media results
Foster deeper relationships between the industry?s analyst and blogger communities with Operative?s key external stakeholders (e.g., CEO/President)
Campaign Support & Integration
Ensure all facets of external-facing communications are coordinated with the rest of the Marketing department?s initiatives. This includes:
At Operative events, network and develop relationships with analysts and bloggers, provide PR and AR support, and work with the Corporate Reporter to identify onsite news and feature opportunities
Strategize and work with the Campaign Manager and Product Marketing Manager to produce and edit collateral, web and direct marketing content
Requirements/Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related field
5+ years public relations experience within the publishing and/or technology industry; experience managing a PR agency a must
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop relationships and communicate with all levels of management
Demonstrated track record of establishing and fostering relationships with industry analysts, reporters, and bloggers
Experience working with leading analyst firms (e.g., Forrester, Gartner)
Strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and demands at a time
Superior verbal communication, copy writing and editing skills
Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Vocus experience a plus
