After 6 years of growth, we are proud of what we have achieved to date. We have grown 2-3x year-on-year since we started, and are now processing 300 million clicks a month across 160,000 active websites. Last year over 250 million of e-commerce transactions went through our platform, and we are set to more than double that this year. We have raised over $12 million in venture funding with well-known investors such as Greycroft, BDMI, Index Venture?s Accelerator Fund, NESTA, Sussex Place Ventures, and many well-known Angels and advisors.
We are a company that is growing and is a significant player internationally in the ad tech and e-commerce market, and we want to bring on a Marketing Director that is excited to work in such a high scale impactful environment at a fast-paced startup.
About the role
We?re looking for a brilliant Marketing Director to take responsibility for growing the Skimlinks brand and presence, supporting the biz dev team with customer acquisition and retention, and increasing the uptake and engagement of our services. From strategy to execution, the ideal candidate will be able to handle the entire spectrum of a start-up?s marketing needs, as well as managing and growing our in-house marketing team.
This role has a great scope to make some marketing magic happen, providing all the ingredients you could ask for: a truly exciting technology with game-changing trajectory, media-savvy co-founders, an international client base, and some of the biggest names in online publishing and retail among our partners. Skimlinks is also very progressive with its branding, voice, and marketing strategies, to inspire even the most traditional B2C marketeer.
As Marketing Director you will:
Work with our leadership team to put together an end-to-end marketing strategy, including tactics and plan of action to get it done
Deliver your strategy, taking ownership and responsibility for its execution, coordinating both your team and other teams where necessary
Get your hands dirty (it is a startup after all!), whether it be writing website copy or press releases, or running an email marketing campaign.
Be a leader, manager, and mentor to our growing Marketing team, based across our London and San Francisco offices
Conceive and execute online marketing campaigns to drive valuable customer sign-ups, upsell products, and increase engagement of our platform. This will involve working with email marketing tools, creative collateral, running events, and more
Build our brand, influence and presence in target geographies and with target publisher verticals and segments. This will include at least the following: conferences and events, social media, public relations, online advertising, email marketing, content creation, company website evolution, and more
Work with Sales & Biz Dev to grow, screen, and develop our sales pipeline
Be a natural and inspirational communicator, not just to your team but providing insight and updates to the wider team
Use metrics to measure and optimize the success of PR and Marketing efforts
Where appropriate, run customer insights and intelligence gathering
As Marketing Director you?ll be a hands on Marketing guru. You?ll be confident creating and implementing your marketing strategy across all platforms. Both creative and analytical, you?ll be equally comfortable creating exciting new marketing material as well as handling all our marketing analytics. You are an experienced Senior Marketing Manager or a Marketing Director with start-up experience planning the next career move.

For the role of Marketing Director we are looking for:
7+ years in marketing of advertising solutions, media platforms or complex tech services
Experience marketing across multiple countries and cultures
Experience designing and implementing online and offline marketing strategies
A highly talented copywriter, you?ll be able to convey complex or dry concepts in a simple engaging friendly manner
A firm grasp of technology, particularly online advertising and complex marketing platforms
An aesthetic sense and brand voice that is playful, experimental, charming, and un-ad-tech-esque!
High levels of experience and expertise in conceiving and executing email marketing and content marketing campaigns
Ability to use querying tools to analyse data to inform marketing decisions and tactics
A portfolio of past marketing materials to demonstrate your skills and experience
An understanding of the challenges facing online publishers, and a culture of editors and bloggers
A burning desire to work in a start-up that is already making waves in the online publishing and advertising world!
The ability to thrive in an ownership culture and to work with a small, distributed team
A cheeky sense of humor, ambitious, passionate, and love the thrill and madness of working in a startup environment
