Marketing Internship Somark Innovations

SOMARK is a San Diego-based life sciences technology company improving research processes with a better lab-animal ID system. SOMARK's Labstamp ID system applies automated tail tattoos for mouse identification. Labstamp provides pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, breeders, CROs (contract research organizations), government labs, and research institutes with a more reliable ID system that prevents misidentified mice and reduces labor costs.

Opportunity for the team member

The intern will be working in a fast-paced, venture-backed start-up supporting in-house marketing/creative and administrative efforts in preparation for a product launch. The intern will report to the CEO and work with the business development team on a wide range of projects from research to design to execution. gain hands-on experience in a start-up environment.

The 3-6 month internship will start in September 2010. Hours can be flexible and include weekends, but candidates should be willing to work at least 20 hours per week. You will be paid an hourly rate that is commensurate with your talents, skills, and knowledge. Following the internship's conclusion, SOMARK will consider a full-time offer.

Internship responsibilities will include
Supporting efforts for developing/updating collateral materials, including the website, demo videos, advertisements, packaging, email marketing templates, trade show materials and printed materials for product marketing
Performing administrative/research projects for the marketing, operations and engineering team
Maintaining and updating the customer tracking list in Salesforce
Performing customer research for target market analysis
Supporting efforts for implementing operations processes, including shipping, phone systems, inventory management

Qualifications:
A current student or recent graduate available from September 2010 through early 2011
Organized, accurate and able to work independently to get things done
Reliable with excellent work ethic and effective communication skills
A creative and efficient researcher and problem solver
Proficient in: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and preferably Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Wordpress, Salesforce
