MASTER DATA SPECIALIST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Master Data Management (MDM) Specialist is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Master Data, such as Item Master, Price lists, and Customer Master. The MDM Specialist is required to understand the Good Technology business in sufficient detail such that he/she can translate business requirements into system values in Oracle R12 pertaining to customer, item and pricing. The candidate will have technical expertise as well as be able to recognize opportunities for process improvement aligned master data management best practices.
Applies master data management concepts and techniques to support multiple business functions and initiatives. Leads informal projects to improve master data quality in Oracle and inter-system data communication.
Tracks and reports on project statuses. Utilizes existing reports and defines new ones, as needed, to visually convey information necessary to support understanding, decision-making and executive communication
Creates new master data records, as needed, and where applicable, executes data cleansing activities by utilizing provided processes and tools (Oracle Master Data Hub, Service Contracts, Excel and Salesforce.com).
Suggests process improvements as opportunities arise.
Validates data records (customer, item, price book, pricing modifier, etc.) as per company policy, which may include external data sources: 1) where applicable, to verify the existence of the entity and association to the correct master record, and/or 2) to confirm the values conform to the contractual relationship.
Adheres to company policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Works effectively with teams to solve problems; escalates issues appropriately
Assists with the ongoing development of standards and procedures. Identifies and helps implement process improvement, including controls, where needed.
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years with Oracle11i or higher required
Oracle Item Master and Customer Master creation and maintenance experience required
Data cleansing and validation experience required or the equivalent of 2 year in Master Data, Materials, Sales Operations, Order
Administration, Pricing, or Accounts Payable experience required, preferably within technology industry
Track record of increasing responsibility and leadership required
Preferred Qualifications:
Supervisory, team lead or project manager role within finance/accounting environment strongly preferred
Experience with Oracle R12 preferred;
Outstanding interpersonal skills with team leader orientation
Independent, self-starter and customer-service oriented
Meticulous of attention to detail; able to define detailed work steps to complete a project
Understands general business principles as well as master data management concepts
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Effective and efficient worker under pressure and within timelines
EDUCATION: BA or BS in Business, Accounting or related field preferred; other disciplines considered with at least 2 years of relevant work
