We are looking for a Material Handler to be responsible for shipping, receiving and material handling of all products, parts, goods and services.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
Note: The following is meant to be representative but not necessarily all inclusive of the duties and responsibilities for this position title.
Responsible for the replenishment of production kanbans and materials shortages. Issues new parts to fill scrapped or damaged material during production process.
Fills material requests from production personnel, engineering and others. Documents all material transaction in the computer system.
Correctly identifies incoming shipments of parts and supplies, matches them with the correct purchase orders, inputs the receipts into the computer and routes the material to the correct destination in the facility. Works with Purchasing and Accounts Payable to resolve any discrepancies that arise.
Packages instruments and spare parts correctly for safe shipment to worldwide destinations, accurately transacting the shipments on the computer and using various shippers? software to prepare waybills and other shipping documents. Works with Purchasing and Accounts Receivable to resolve discrepancies that arise during the shipping process.
Becomes familiar with, and competent in, processing international shipments, including understanding Shipper?s Export Declarations, Commercial Invoices, and other export paperwork.
Monitors inventory levels of all the shipping supplies and works with Purchasing to order the correct amounts of these supplies.
Maintains the shipping, receiving and stockroom areas in an orderly and safe condition. Maintains orderly files as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Performs daily inventory cycle counts and reconciliations.
May perform minor receiving inspection on received materials.
Utilizes shipping/receiving equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, hand trucks and delivery carts.
Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for improvement.
Normally receives instruction on daily work, occasionally uses independent judgment and employs some initiative.
Must be able to work in a team oriented atmosphere with assemblers, technicians, QA personnel, engineers and managers in completing tasks and communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Communicates with their supervisor on management issues which need resolution.
Expected to provide feedback on shipping/receiving & material processes and continuously strives to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
Will provide support to project teams whose objectives may be: quality improvement, cost reduction, cycle time reduction, reliability improvement, increased operational efficiency, or new product introduction.
Assists in creating and updating procedures & process documentation.
Must have the ability to create and maintain productive working relationships within the work team and with other functions. Collaborates with peers to achieve shared departmental goals.
Collects and documents key measurements and data. Reviews metrics on a regular basis and strives to improve individual and group performance.
Fills out time sheets and all other required paperwork accurately and on time.
Keeps training file updated at all times.
Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for performing all duties in compliance with FDA's Quality System Regulation (QSR), ISO13485, the Canadian Medical Device Regulations, and all other international regulatory requirements with which ZELTIQ complies.
Experience, Education, Training, Traits:
High School diploma or equivalent. Experience in shipping via UPS and Fed-Ex a plus.
5+ years related experience in a high tech, medical device manufacturing environment with experience in using measuring devices such as weight scales and calipers.
Certified Forklift experience required. Clean DMV record required
Requires strong accuracy in the use of Windows-based inventory control computer software. Must become adept at using:
The receiving portion of the purchase order module
The shipping transactions portion of the sales order module
The material transactions portion of the inventory module
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions both verbally and in writing.
Good mechanical aptitude, dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Must be able to reach, bend and lift 50 lbs on a daily basis
PC user, familiar with Word, Excel, and Windows.
Knowledge and adherence to safety procedures and programs
Language and Verbal Skills
Articulate and professional when dealing with both internal and external customers.
Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and materials management.
Ability to clearly and concisely convey shipping & material status including accomplishments, obstacles and issues to management.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to use basic mathematics to perform calculations and interpret results/data.
Analytical and Reading Skills
Ability to define inventory & shipping problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to read shipping/receiving & engineering documents and extract important concepts.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee will be required to use a computer for up to 8 hours consecutively. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and be mobile.
The employee may be required to lift up to 50 pounds or move equipment that may weigh in excess of 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some work will be required to be performed where the employee must employ standard techniques to protect against chemical hazards. Some light machining and prototyping activities will involve moderate noise levels (i.e. power drill) and moderate dust or debris exposure.
