Position Summary
The Materials Manager will be a member of the Manufacturing Operations team with the primary responsibility for managing all Materials functions in support of the production and distribution of OpGen?s products. He/She will interface at all levels within the organization and lead the Materials team to ensure that Operations and Corporate goals are met.
Primary Job Functions
? Managing the flow of materials and goods in support of OpGen?s products.
? Managing of Purchasing activities associated with Inventoried Materials, Receiving, Planning, Scheduling and Shipping.
? Managing the ERP system to ensure inventory counts and valuations are accurate and timely.
? Ensuring that all Materials related activities are performed in accordance with internal and OSHA safety requirements.
? Ensuring that all Materials related activities are performed and documented in accordance with internal QMS and cGMP requirements, and for proposing changes to procedures that will improve the accuracy and/or efficiency of materials transactions.
? Responsible for Materials performance metrics (on-time deliveries, accuracy of deliveries, cost savings) and proactively implementing corrective actions through established procedures where appropriate.
? Responsible for implementation of the most reliable and cost-effective options for domestic and international shipments.
? Negotiation with vendors regarding Supply Agreements and in managing vendors to ensure the quality and availability of all purchased or OEM?d materials.
? Coordination of activities with other Operations departments.
? Interact with other departments within OpGen to ensure that Operations goals are met.
Education/Skills/Attributes Required
? Bachelor?s degree from an accredited university, preferably in a Life Science related field. At least 8 yrs of experience in managing Materials requirements for production of Biotech, Pharma, IVD or other Life Science products.
? Experience with Materials Management for technically sophisticated products in an FDA regulated environment, preferably with IVD products highly desirable. Must be thoroughly adept at control of inventory through MRP/ERP systems. Proven track record of success in managing Materials functions for complex products required.
? APICS/APICS CPIM certification highly desirable. Training in Lean, Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement desirable.
? Experienced in management of all Materials functions: Purchasing, Planning, Receiving, Warehouse Control, Scheduling and Supply Chain Logistics.
? Management of Materials functions in a cGMP environment.
? Experience with, and understanding of scientific terminology, units of measure and materials used in Life Science industries.
? Demonstrated ability to successfully lead the Materials functions for the manufacture of sophisticated biotech or medical device products to achieve high inventory accuracy.
? Demonstrated ability to manage production scheduling and inventories during periods of rapid growth.
? Ability to lead the continued implementation of OpGen?s ERP system in the management of inventory levels.
? Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and managing large databases.
? Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Foreign language skills a plus.
? Proficient in the use of spreadsheets for tracking and presentation of data.
? Proficiency in the use of statistical methods desirable.
? Ability to regularly lift up to 35 lbs.
