The Materials Manager is responsible for the overseeing and control of Planning, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, raw materials movements and location, WIP, and finished goods from the time Job is planned through the time of customer shipment and delivery. Additional responsibilities include returned goods control, freight claims responsibilities, and scrap control.

Manage the Purchasing, Receiving, Shipping, Production Planning & Scheduling, and Inventory functions.
Work as directed on special projects or coordinate activities of Materials Control personnel, using lSO, Lean, and Continuous Improvement methods.
Direct the material cycle counting program and maintain inventory records. Analyze, record data and review for corrective action steps and adjustments.
Enter or approve inventory adjustments in computer.
Oversee outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Develop departmental goals, track progress, and conduct corrective actions as required.
Directly manage 2 to 3 employees.
Develop plans or systems to improve material utilization or add plant capacity
Work on special or new comprehensive projects as they are developed and assigned.
Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all material handling and all pertinent equipment.
Verify and maintain shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet deliverables. Utilize knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Manage and participate in physical inventory.
Develop optimal packaging and shipping methods for better delivery.
Develop, train, and motivate Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Warehouse teams.
Responsible for progressive discipline with regards to attendance, performance, and all aspects of company policy up to and including termination.
Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with J. Kittredge policies and procedures.
Provide feedback to management concerning possible problem or areas of improvement.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Bachelor?s Degree in Business Management, inventory management, or similar, plus 5 years of related experience is preferred.
MRP2 experience, including BOM work, product costing, inventory valuation, ability to reduce unnecessary inventory. Position requires ability to run queries from databases.
Proficiency in Windows environment and Microsoft Office Suite required.
Mathematical abilities to add, subtract, multiply, and/or divide numbers confidently with or without the assistance of a calculator. Statistical analysis and presentation of data is required.
Ability to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Then to take the conclusions to develop adequate policies and/or procedures to ensure controls are in place, monitored, and enforced to satisfy inventory and reporting accuracy and timeliness, as directed by senior management.
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
