As a Materials Science Engineer at Luminus, you will be responsible for developing state of the art phosphor-converted ultra-high brightness light emitting diodes (LED?s). You will work closely with team members to develop phosphor deposition techniques, materials, and processes to improve the performance of next generation chips for general lighting, display, data projection, medical, entertainment and architectural lighting.
Responsibilities shall include characterization and evaluation of phosphor /ceramic materials, maintain internal materials knowledge bank, coordinate designed experiments from wafer fabrication through packaged devices, and help to improve theoretical models for phosphor converted LED performance. In addition you will communicate theoretical design expectations/experimental results to technical and non-technical audiences and deliver high quality proof-of-concept designs that maintain Luminus Device?s position as the world leader in high power LED?s.
Qualifications for the position include an M.S. or Ph. D in Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline and demonstrated use of statistical data analysis and design of experiment techniques using software packages such as SAS JMP. Preferred candidates will have experience with GaN, III-V compound semiconductor device development, packaging technology, LED fabrication and phosphor converted LED?s. 3-5 years industry experience with a proven track record of delivering products to market and knowledge of colorimetry, fluorescence and chromaticity is also plus.
