Materials Technician XCOR Aerospace
Materials Technician provides technical support related to research and development, fabricating test articles for aircraft parts, performing assembly and installation in accordance with technical specifications.
Candidate should thoroughly understand the basic properties of materials such as stress, strain, and modulus and be able to present the results of tests graphically using spreadsheets. Materials engineering education or experience helpful but not required.
Technician jobs are detail-oriented and involve operating test equipment, crafting, sanding, bonding, assembly, and autoclave with a variety of test materials primarily composites, but some metals.
Reading blue prints and making precision measurements to ensure project accuracy and completion.
Operation of test equipment - Identify and recommend tools, equipment, and other resources necessary to perform task.
Ability to use a variety of hand tools, grinders, sanders, files, dremels, drills, and operate ovens.
Perform wet lay-up preparation, and cures, using advanced composite materials including pre-pregs.
Perform test part preparations including grinding, sanding, blending, deburring operations.
Operates all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignment
Demonstrates excellent communication skills and professional attitude without compromising quality.
Follow all OSHA standards in regards to personal protection equipment.
Presents a clean and neat work area ? facility cleanliness and general housekeeping
Possess a technical aptitude
Possess the ability to read, write and perform basic math calculations
High School diploma or equivalent.
Practical fabricating experience primarily with composites and some metals. .
Must be capable of interpreting engineering drawings
Must be able to follow verbal instruction.
Must be able to work efficiently, with precision and attention to detail.
Working knowledge of computer systems and other related test and data acquisition systems.
Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments
Working knowledge of company safety instructions, processes, and MSDS labels.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs and climb a 12? ladder.
Must be a U.S. citizen or hold Resident Alien status (aka Green Card).
Must be proficient in spoken and written standard American English.
