Smarthinking, a Pearson service unit, is hiring motivated individuals to serve as part-time online mathematics tutors. Pearson?s Smarthinking service includes real-time, online tutoring and learning support to colleges, universities, high schools and individuals.

To qualify, individuals must have:
Advanced coursework or graduate degree in a mathematical discipline.
College-level teaching or tutoring experience in courses from remedial math through Calculus II.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to troubleshoot problems calmly in potentially stressful situations.
Strong typing and computer skills.
An enthusiasm for online education and a passion for helping students to improve their lives through learning.
Preference will be given to candidates with:
Teaching experience in upper-level courses such as multivariable calculus, differential equations, linear algebra &/or discrete mathematics.
College teaching experience in liberal arts math and /or business math.
Experience mentoring or supervising adjunct instructors or tutors.
Tutors typically work 12 to 19 hours per week on a set schedule each semester and during the summer, and they may work from anywhere they have high-speed Internet access.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a majority of qualifications listed above, as well as: working in an online environment; working independently; degree, or certifications (Masters, PhD, etc); significant college-level teaching/tutoring experience in the relevant areas; consistent availability; experience with MyMathLab.

This is a remote position that will require the job incumbent to work out of her/his home office.
If hired, tutors must be able to provide documentation regarding eligibility to work in the United States (I9 form verified by US notary) and have access to his/her own computer and internet access.
