MCDBA Database Administrator
To complement our rapidly growing business we are seeking a bright and highly motivated MCDBA Database Administrator for our Memphis, TN location. This position will be responsible for administering multiple SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2 and 2005 databases; and, will work to devise and implement strategies related to database replication, security, design, and upgrades.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all databases administration and programming changes comply with corporate standards.
- Administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of databases.
- Provide technical expertise on data issues and perform analysis, design, testing, and monitoring of databases across multiple platforms, technologies and computing environments.
- To troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database performance, accessibility, functionality and data integrity.
- Ensure all support services provided are consistent with best practices as defined by the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework, in particular change and release management, incident and problem management.
- Monitoring and tuning databases for optimal performance demonstrating high levels of competence and knowledge in action. Corrective action is always proactive.
- Developing, documenting, and implementing security configuration for databases to comply with good practice and ensure Mimeo security policies are carried out to a high standard.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 4+ years of SQL Server DBA experience, expert level; BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred.
- MCDBA required; MCSE preferred
- Highly proficient in SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 administration and operations.
- Knowledge of SQL Server 2008 R2 is required.
- Strong optimization, database sizing, capacity planning, back up & recovery skills.
- Understanding of MS SQL server security administration (users and permissions).
- Performance tuning/MS SQL server development skills - SQL Profiler and Performance Monitor.
- Solid understanding of DTS packages, stored procedures, triggers, functions and transactions analysis.
- Thorough understanding of indices and statistics.
- Knowledge of hardware subsystems of MS SQL server storage - SAN experience is a plus
- Must be detailed oriented and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
