Job Summary:
The mechanic (millwright) will assist in installation, modification, maintenance and repair of existing and future prototype battery processes equipment. The mechanic (millwright) will be responsible for performing equipment installation, equipment repairs and preventive maintenance for all pilot process and materials handling equipment.
The mechanic (millwright) will work under the Equipment Development Manager and work with Manufacturing, ETO, and Facilities to achieve objectives either as a team member or individual technical contributor.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer?s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Install/make modifications to machinery by following diagrams, sketches, and engineering instructions
Initiate purchase requests for parts, tools, and machines. Prepare report of test observations/on work requests. Complete all required work orders for unplanned maintenance
Ability/willingness to work in pilot operations environment under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and/or confined spaces and have full mobility with ability to climb ladders and stairs
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required
AS in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, electrical technology or one of the service trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.) a plus
Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
Strong reading comprehension and communication skills
Working knowledge of electricity, electronics, hydraulics, plumbing and mechanics
Welding, blueprint reading, electrical schematic reading, drafting and computer skills a plus
