Nanosys designs and manufactures architected materials for use in lithium ion batteries to deliver higher battery capacity in consumer electronics and automotive applications.
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, build and install new equipment for the manufacturing-scale synthesis of advanced Li-ion battery materials. The candidate needs to be familiar with CVD reactor design, mechanical modeling. The successful candidate will be part of a fast moving and highly motivated team.
Major Responsibilities:
Design and build LPCVD/CVD reactors applications from concept and solid-modeling to the complete tool.
Will help select and work closely with vendors to generate designs and build tools.
Help plan, lay out and populate a new manufacturing facility.
Work with Process and CVD engineers to develop manufacturing ready processes on the new tools
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
In-depth experience with CVD, LPCVD or MOCVD reactor design.
Experience with design of assembly fixtures and production aids.
Strong mechanical design skills. Must be proficient with SolidWorks or similar 3D solid modeling software.
Hands on experience with common machining tools such as mills and lathes.
Highly motivated and goal oriented.
Strong problem solving skills.
Safety conscious, committed to adhering to EH&S rules and regulations.
Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with a wide variety of people in different areas of R&D process integration, process development, and pilot production to effectively accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
Physical requirements necessary to perform this job:
Visual acuity sufficient to work with small parts.
Ability to hear safety alarms, process alarms and abnormal sounds from process equipment.
Physical ability to perform equipment maintenance, including occasionally working in awkward positions.
Ability to lift 50lbs.
Ability to manipulate heavy items such as gas cylinders.
Education, Experience and Certifications:
MSME or degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering.
At least 5 years of relevant industrial experience.
5 years experience in mechanical design and motor controls, PLCs and safety interlock logic.
Hands-on experiences designing and building complex tools.
