The Mechanical Engineer?s role is to perform fluid flow models to calculate head losses in piping systems, ensure that Piping and Instrument Diagrams are complete and accurate, and perform any other miscellaneous technical tasks as requested by the project engineers.
Interface with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Electrical and Controls Engineers, and with Service Engineers and Technicians to assist with the execution of awarded projects
Assist Project Engineer in developing Bills of Material for all mechanical equipment
Develop and maintain all engineering information for standard product and assist in the development of new products
Create fluid flow models on AFT Fathom according to the Piping and Instrument Diagrams and pipe layout drawings
Edit P&IDs on AutoCAD using basic functions (copy, paste, move, rotate, text edit, layers)
Communicate with vendors and actively solve on any issue that may come up with their product
Assist in compilation of the final sets of IOM manuals
Any other responsibility as assigned by TAS
Proficient at Excel and other computer skills. CAD skills a plus
Experience with analysis of compliance with NEC, NFPA, ASME, ANSI and other relevant industry codes
Must have a ?can do? attitude. Must be able to juggle multiple needs from customers (internal & external).
Must be proficient in technical writing and comprehensive documentation
Minimum of 5 years' experience in design and selection of mechanical systems preferably in the Power Generation Industry or HVAC central plant industry
Industrial HVAC, energy service contracting (ESCO) or central refrigeration plant experience
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year program or demonstrated equivalent direct industry experience/training
Demonstrated proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation
Power generation plant experience, particularly with gas turbines
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
80 to 90 % of the work is performed at a desk in an office type of environment. Attendance to meetings and some equipment inspection in a shop environment is also required. The ability to sit for several hours at a time, bend, stoop and stand is required.
