Starting with the broadest range of best-in-class products, we develop and manufacture efficient, high value Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation solutions that help service providers maximize revenues.
Overture is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to actively participate in the complete product life cycle to include: architecting, designing, documenting, testing, NPI, and support of Operations for the life of products.
Depending on the project, this role is can be either working with other mechanical engineers or working as the sole mechanical engineer on the overall design team.
Duties:?Total responsibility of implementation/analysis of Physical and Thermal design:
oProduct form factor and packaging
oProduct aesthetics, usability and utility
oProduct cabling and connectorization in concert with EEs
oBasic understanding of thermal management and performance
oValidation and test (Hardware Verification Testing, NEBS)
oProduct packaging and shipping
oDesign and documentation of PCB outlines (including IDF transfer for layout)
?Product support activities as it relates to Physical and Thermal design:
oSustaining Engineering (operations)
oEnd of life
?Contribute to initial product concept/sizing/feasibility analysis
?Contribute to Telecom & Safety product certification
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
?4-7 years of Telecom Physical and Thermal development experience
?Experience in sheet metal design and fabrication
?Experience in Telecom related cabling and connectorization
?Established track record of delivering products to market on time and on budget
?Experience in a small work environment (start-up culture)
?Proficient with: Pro Engineer 3D modeling and design
?BSME with a mix of practical and analytical training
?Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
?Team player in a diverse environment that is common in start-up environments
?Experience in Telecom Access product development where low cost solutions are essential
?Clear understanding of DFT/DFM and the importance of total product cost is required
?Ability to work as a team or as sole designer, as required by the project/situation
?Hard working, motivated, self-starter and finisher, great attention to detail
Desirable Skills
?Experience in Outside Plant Telecom environment/deployments
?SolidWorks 3D modeling and design, Adobe Illustrator and Agile PLM
?Knowledge of thermal management and thermal design
?Interfacing with third party testing facilities to perform certification testing
?Creating and understanding of statistical tolerance loops
