SpectraSensors is looking for an outstanding Mechanical Engineer to join us in the core engineering team, where we design Tunable Diode Laser (TDLAS) Industrial Gas Analyzers. In this role you will report to the Director of Engineering and be a key member of an engineering team with Electronics, Mechanical, and Optical design focus. Manufacturing of our product occurs in this facility. The selected candidate will design, test and implement mechanical designs that sustain and improve existing product and also have the opportunity to design and solve challenging design issues on new products. A background in design with applications in Natural Gas or Process industrial analyzers is preferred but not required. Experience doing design work relating to industrial standards such as CE and ATEX is a plus. Experience with industrial packaging design where thermal control is required is a plus.
Perform Mechanical component and system design that meets the specifications and
quality/reliability specifications as flowed down from system level requirements.
Design Analysis including vibration, thermal, material reactivity, and gas flow.
Mechanical design that meets the needs of the business including but not limited to
Manufacturability, interchangeability, assembly, field support, and cost.
Communicate in a consistent and timely fashion the status and progress of design efforts
and any project issues.
Complete involvment in the process, ranging from design, sourcing with suppliers, prototype creation and testing, to final production release.
Background and Skills
Bachelor?s degree in Engineering discipline required
2+ years' experience in applied engineering background
Excellent written and verbal English skills required
Ability to use SolidWorks to generate models, assemblies and detailed fabrication
Ability to perform design calculations and incorporate this to deliver a robust design
Ability to incorporate principles such as Lean Manufacturing and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly
Well-versed in machining, fabrication and manufacturing processes.
A good understanding of mechanical dimensioning and toleranceing, including ANSI
Familiarity with precision mounting and Cte material match needed in precision optical
designs is a plus.
Experienced with engineering documentation and document control methods
Familiar with environmental test methods.
