What you?ll do
As a Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of Mechanical Engineers in terms of planning, scheduling, budgeting, staffing, process development, cross-functional product development efficiency, mentoring, and training. Ensure that Belkin products are perceived as the highest quality in their category and continue to build brand awareness through effective Engineering and design implementation. Work closely with the Design Director, Industrial Designers, Product Managers, R & D Labs and vendors to ensure product development objectives and schedules are met. Supervise Mechanical Engineering staff at IDG and overseas. Develop and implement effective strategies to optimize our ability to develop products with contract manufacturing partners when deemed appropriate.
How you?ll do it
Manage, motivate and direct the Mechanical Engineering (ME) team.
Oversee and ensure that product development objectives are met.
Responsible for creating annual ME department budget and ensuring that it is not exceeded.
Keep product development costs within budget guidelines.
Responsible for ensuring that Belkin?s product development process promotes innovation without sacrificing its responsiveness or flexibility.
Oversee the negotiation of contracts with design consultants, engineers, and design firms. Assist PMs with contract negotiations of manufacturers and other vendors.
Obtain feedback from sales and product management regarding the ME team?s performance. Take appropriate action as required.
Hire, manage and take related actions as required.
Mentor and generate and implement appropriate training plans to ensure continued professional development of all engineers.
Uphold the Company's affirmative action plan and make good faith efforts to achieve affirmative action goals and time tables.
Fulfill responsibilities under OHSAS 18001, understand and fully support OHSAS 18001 system.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Understand and follow company rules and regulations.
Perform all other duties as assigned or required.
What you?ll need
BSME with a MSME/MSIE preferred
Minimum of ten years related work experience in new product development including extensive interaction with Industrial Designers and manufacturing vendors.
Experience hiring and effectively managing Mechanical engineering teams
At least 6 years experience with 3D CAD. ProEngineer/ProSurface experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of and extensive working experience with a variety of manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, sheet metal, casting and rapid prototyping
Experience working with cross-functional teams managing multiple projects.

Monitor the quality of engineering solutions generated by the team with a focus on continuously improving its effectiveness and efficiency.
Interface with sales, marketing and product management personnel (PMs) to ensure that designated products are engineered and manufactured according to schedule.
Ensure proper communication levels are met to achieve maximum success.
Prioritize and delegate tasks to ME team as required.
Assist the PM staff to determine product specifications and features as well as oversee the sourcing and development of the final product, either internally or externally.
