ABOUT THE COMPANY
Pathogenetix is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Engineers to work with a team of scientists and engineers to transition our product from alpha prototype to production. Following several years of development we are now commercializing an advanced instrument and assay system for food safety applications. PathoGenetix built this product leveraging a proprietary Genome Sequence Scanning (GSS) technology that employs single-molecule mapping of genomic DNA to identify a vast variety of microorganisms in complex mixtures. The Company is located in Woburn, MA.
GENERAL
The applicant will be part of a small team of scientists and engineers working on transitioning our product into production phase. The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of sheet metal and machined part design; material selection and component selection; producing tolerance mechanical drawings; experience working with machine shops and sheet metal vendors for prototype production; hands-on ability to troubleshoot and test mechanical systems as well as mill and lathe machining skills. Additional experience with life science industry/biotech and/or experience designing fluidics and sample handling systems is a distinct advantage. A core understanding of the company technology and biological concepts will be beneficial to design for manufacturability. A qualified candidate must be versatile, hands-on and prepared to work on troubleshooting and servicing prototype apparatus as well as to work with engineers on building and testing of new systems.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
?BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, with 4 - 8 years? experience in mechanical design using Pro/ENGINEER or SolidWorks CAD package
?Experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment
SPECIFIC DUTIES
?Testing of alpha instrument sub-assemblies
?Troubleshooting and redesigning for DFM
?Maintaining documentation package to our quality system

?Ability to work on multiple project at one time in a GMP environment
?Dedication to quality and excellence
?Computer programming experience
DESIRABLE SKILLS
Combinations of the following will be advantageous:
?Experimental laboratory experience using microscopes and laser optics
?Leading DFM efforts by partnering with Design Engineering, suppliers, supplier quality and contract manufacturer to achieve manufacturability, reliability and cost goals.
