About this jobThis is a unique opportunity for a Medical Transcriptionist or other allied healthcare professional that wants to be part of a medical team. This position is a vital part of our radiology team. The primary role of this position is to partner with the radiologists to increase the quality of care, efficiency and productivity of interpretations. The purpose of this position is to augment the Radiologists? ability to provide medical interpretation services to patients; assist in the creation of Radiology Final Reports, editing reports for accuracy and compliance with American Hospital Association and American College of Radiology Guidelines.
Key Responsibilities of the Position:
Work directly with radiologists to place radiographic findings into appropriate reports for all modalities of radiology. Requires strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
Transcribe radiographic dictations into radiographic reports. Prepare completed reports for distribution to client healthcare facilities.
Manage work list of patient orders and distribute orders to appropriate radiologists based on the physicians? areas of specific expertise.
Work closely with other on the radiology support team to achieve the common goal of having all orders read by radiologists within required turn-around time.
Working in a team environment, opportunities exist to mentor and train others in the department.
Duties
The Ideal candidate will have:
A minimum of 2 years experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or possess a Bachelors degree in health science or other related field.
Strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
Trained and proficient in the use of various dictation devices.
Highly proficient with computers
Ability to type a minimum of 60 WPM
Fast Learner and particular efficient in learning to use new computer software
Prior experience within a radiology setting a plus.
Ability to work in a fast pace, collegial environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
