About the Role:
The Online Merchandising Manager - Technology Categories is responsible for the sourcing, management and analysis of daily deals and coupons for Whale Shark Media's deal focused web sites. This position requires the ability serve as a category/product expert in order to create optimal site content. The Merchandising Manager will be required to oversee all stages of deal content production and merchandising. Qualified candidates will possess strong analytical and decision making skills. Must be able to adapt to growth and change. Must be a driven self-starter who can motivate direct reports and roll up sleeves to get the job done each day. Prior experience managing online merchandising or buying for technology categories required. E-commerce and/or affiliate marketing experience required.
Responsibilities:
Research, select and merchandise the best online coupons, deals, consumer offers and products across WhaleShark Media's portfolio of websites.
Serve as the subject matter expert for key technology verticals (computers, electronics, wireless) and assist Partner Management team in negotiating exclusive deals with merchants and other advertising partners.
Understand and analyze KPIs and proactively work to increase conversion rate, revenue and profit
Partner with marketing to research and provide best offers for consumer newsletters and track offer success
Analyze daily deals schedule to fill voids and improve offerings
Analyze competitive marketplace and internal data to drive selection process and improve traffic monetization.
Manage performance targets for direct reports
Work with the content production, editorial and product teams to optimize the way deals are described and featured on the sites. Make final selection and ranking decisions.
Ad hoc projects and analyses
Requirements:
7+ years experience with at least 3 years in the B2C e-commerce or online publishing space
Proven track record in online merchandising or retail buying role and a passion for finding online deals. Specific category experience in consumer electronics required.
Knowledge of online content production and editorial processes, html and content management systems
Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills
Able to set and meet aggressive deadlines
Self motivated and enjoys working in a fast paced and results driven environment
Bachelor's degree required
Proficient in MS Office and basic HTML
