As a Quality Assurance Performance Test Manager in the K-12 Technology division, you will work closely with other Product Development professionals to understand performance requirements for our Schoolnet and PowerSchool product lines, and ensure that disciplined and repeatable processes are in place to accurately measure performance, scalability, and reliability. This position reports to the Director of Quality Assurance.
Within an Agile framework, collaborate with Performance Test Engineers, Senior Developers, Architects, and other Product Development staff to efficiently and effectively measure performance on flagship products.
Along with your team, evaluate proposed software changes and what their impact may be on performance, scalability, and reliability; Ensure appropriate Performance Test Strategies are in place and executed on.
Maintain a multi-million dollar performance test lab ensuring high availability, reliability, and continued relevance as business needs evolve.
Work with Performance Test Engineers to ensure proper methodologies and processes are in place, and predictably executed on.
Coach staff on how to implement more effective and efficient performance test strategies and practices to ensure high performing products are produced, with risk well defined and mitigated.
Champion the communication aspect of performance testing, ensuring that various stakeholders are receiving consumable information about performance tests that have run, are running, or will soon be running.
Challenge established Development, Quality Assurance, and Performance Test processes and standards, and be a champion in driving further efficiencies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Sciences degree in Computer Science, or equivalent/relevant education.
Minimum of 5 years of management experience in software development.
Minimum of 2 years of prior experience as a Performance Test Engineer or Performance Test Manager.
Expert understanding of performance test methodologies, and a passion for evangelizing the discipline.
Strong understanding of the many technical variables of performance testing, such as hardware, operating system, database, load balancer, and application/web servers.
Expert understanding of industry standard quality assurance and testing methodologies.
Expert understanding of software development methodologies, especially Agile.
Demonstrate a passion for the continuous improvement of processes and methodologies used in the development of software solutions.
Proven experience building teams and managing multiple projects in parallel.
Experience with multi-location test teams.
Working knowledge of industry leading performance test tools such as HP LoadRunner or Silk Performer.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational, time management and project management skills.
Approximately 20% travel time
