As a member of the development product team, the Manager, Software Development Engineer will be responsible for design, coding and testing of commercial enterprise software products. All SDEs are expected to deliver solutions based on a predefined schedule and with high quality. Before release the solutions must meet multiple release criteria including but not limited to clear documentation, performance, security and scalability. Managers are expected to lead, mentor, prioritize and help schedule work for their teams. They are also expected to clear written and verbal feedback on employee performance. Key technology knowledge will include Java/C#, jQuery, SQL, and HTML.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Design and develop innovative technology solutions conforming to the business requirements
Manage the software development function. Develop and implement business plans, policies, and procedures. Collaborate with other departments to prioritize software development needs including design, development, and documenting and testing new and existing software.
Document and execute unit tests to ensure business requirements are met
Submit accurate progress reports for each project to management
Provide input for estimation and project schedules for successful and timely completion of projects. Follow SDLC methodology to ensure delivery of a quality product including appropriate change control and configuration management (branching) to ensure integrity of the product environments.
Provide technical assistance to users support team.
Provide on call support as required. Monitor and resolve production support requirements. Provide appropriate follow up and status as per defined process.
Evaluate results within business unit to determine if organizational objectives are being met. Analyze and resolve software development issues and needs in terms of the software's full life cycle.
Manages the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
Perform administrative duties consistent with managerial positions with the organization.
Education & Knowledge Required
BS in Computer Science or related field
Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
Broad knowledge of the field with proven leadership skills. At least 4 years of leadership responsibility.
Development level based experience:
7-10 years of experience in object oriented analysis, design and development; including n-tier web applications and client-server applications.
5 plus years of experience with Java SE 6 or C#
ASP.Net experience a plus
Experience with SQL Server and T-SQL programming a plus
Experience First-hand professional experience using Eclipse or Visual Studio. TFS experience a plus.
Results-oriented, self-motivated, and possess a willingness and aptitude to learn and grow with new software development technologies and techniques.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication
Experience shipping commercial software
