Mobile and Desktop Development Manager Knovel

DescriptionThis person will take on the critical role of leading Knovel?s next generation HTML5/Ajax applications for the browser and mobile devices, providing technical guidance and team leadership. The front end applications will leverage Knovel?s custom APIs to create a consistent and intuitive user experience on desktop browsers and iOS/Android devices, providing features ranging from complex search, to offline reading and annotations, to personalization and collaborations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and technical guidance to a team of front end developers.
Design and lead the implementation of Knovel?s front end applications with performance and stability in mind.
Work closely with the Product team on features and requirements.
Coordinate with the project managers, estimate risk and work load, assign and oversea tasks, and insure team?s delivery all within an agile methodology.
Ensure that developers remain diligent on documentation, source code management, change management, and releases.
Work closely with other teams: API, CMS and Reporting to insure functionality.
Identify and recommend ways to streamline processes for improved automation and efficiency.
Triage support front end issues.
Recommend new technologies.
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science preferred or comparable work experience in related fields.
Minimum 2 years of prior leadership experience in a technical lead role,
Minimum 5 years working in web applications, with deep experience building robust and interactive HTML/Javascript/Ajax applications.
Experience in the server side development either in PHP or Java.
Mobile development experience a plus. PhoneGap development experience a plus.
Capable of taking on and delivering project deliverables with limited guidance from senior management.
Demonstrable skills in problem solving, critical thinking, written and oral communication, writing application requirements, designing applications, coding and testing documentation.
