We are currently seeking a Molecular Technologist
Duties & Responsibilities:
Applicant is expected to work with considerable independence to perform complex molecular assays using a combination of traditional bench work and state-of-the-art instruments.
Responsibilities may include, but not be limited to:
Responsible for performing molecular based technical and scientific processes and procedures in a high complexity CLIA certified molecular diagnostic laboratory under the supervision of the Molecular Leadership.
Perform high complexity laboratory testing according to approved policies and procedures for all phases of testing; pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic, as well as general laboratory systems.
Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and calibration of instrumentation and equipment used to perform testing.
Assist the IHC laboratory with pre-processing techniques.
Follow quality control and quality assessment programs.
Evaluate test results for completeness, accuracy and quality.
Report test results to clients.
Assist with revising laboratory documents including policies, procedures and forms.
Follow all safety policies and procedures.
Comply with all federal and state regulations requiring ongoing education and training.
This position is best suited to someone desiring to work in a proactive team environment that places strong emphasis on providing accurate and timely information to physicians.
o ASCP certified technologist(medical technology, cytogenetic or molecular diagnostics) and/or
o BS in a chemical, physical, biological science
o 1 year of related experience in a clinical setting is preferred
? Required Skills:
o Must meet the requirements for testing personnel under CLIA regulations (42 CFR, part 493)
o Experience with DNA and RNA amplification and detection techniques including but not limited to:
Genetic analysis of tissue using a wide range of molecular techniques, capillary gel electrophoresis, quantitative RT-PCR and direct DNA sequencing and knowledge of molecular biology and/or medical genetics is preferred
o Experience with Affymetrix gene expression platforms is desirable
