Job Description:
Become a member of our fast growing company, Ntirety - The Database Experts. As a Monitoring and Applications System Administrator at Ntirety, you will be the lead on evaluating and implementing a new monitoring solution that is the cornerstone of the entire company?s business, while, also managing the key technologies that allow us to support installations on our client?s systems all over the world. You will be working with our internal resources and clients on infrastructure and application projects ensuring optimal availability and performance of the monitoring systems. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of issues that arise while working concurrently with multiple priorities. Finally, you will be responsible for ensuring that we are on the best possible technology to maintain our competitive advantage.
For this position, working out of Ntirety Dedham, Massachusetts office is required.
Job Summary:
The Monitoring and Application Systems Administrator is responsible for Ntirety?s monitoring environments and plays an important role in technical systems support and implementations. The person is responsible for working with the Operations staff and vendors to ensure enterprise applications perform in a manner that enables Ntirety to meet its organizational goals for improved efficiency and continuous improvement. This person must take a broad, cross-departmental view of the organization, processes and procedures to leverage system capabilities and promote effective use of the enterprise applications to meet organizational goals and needs.
Essential Job Functions:
Evaluate and Implement a new, world-class database monitoring system.
Serve as contact/liaison for all users, the systems vendor(s), and customers? technical staffs.
Provide monitoring and application-level expertise.
Work with Operations team in the technical support of multiple enterprise applications.
Work to identify and develop opportunities for improvement within our environment and implement solutions.
Troubleshoot systems issues:
Receive problem report from user(s).
Work with the users to understand, resolve the problem and ensure proper follow-up.
Refer the problem to the vendor(s), as needed.
Keep good documentation of all issues, pending and resolved.
Provide recommendations to department managers and Application Services staff on departmental needs for additional training, report customizations, system enhancements, upgrades, etc.
Have the ability to handle system security and user role profile management
Promote standardization across the company in utilizing enterprise application systems.
Have a detailed understanding of the technology used and participate in systems conceptual design and planning activities.
Assist with implementation activities such as:
Project meetings
Review and approval of deliverable documents (detailed design specifications, test plans, schedule updates, etc.)
System testing
User training
System acceptance
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills essential to Job Functions:
Knowledge of Nagios
Knowledge of WMI and SNMP
Knowledge of Perl
Knowledge of Java
Knowledge, use and installation and management of Microsoft Windows and Linux
Knowledge of Network setup and configuration a plus
Supporting application servers a plus
Strong analytical skills and excellent computer skills required
Strong organization, verbal & written communication skills, diplomacy and problem solving skills are essential
Working knowledge of system architecture, terminology, processes and some understanding of database-based application system concepts
Ability to work independently and use good judgment in decisions affecting application administration
Training and/or Education:
BS in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Systems or Related Field.
