We are currently seeking a Per Diem, MR Technologist to join our Greater Waterbury Imaging Center in Waterbury, CT.
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, perform all required diagnostic MRI scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent high quality examinations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Perform all required diagnostic MRI scanning procedures through proper positioning and technique, consistently demonstrating good judgement in evaluating the diagnostic studies.
? Screen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination (i.e., pain, claustrophobia, metallic objects, isolation patients, etc.). Obtain and review the requisition for examination to obtain information such as procedure requested, clinical history, patient condition or any other special requirements.
? Thoroughly explain procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation. Monitor the condition of any patient within the department and assist the radiologist in performing needed medical attention, if applicable.
? Comply with company operational and safety policies and procedures. Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and emergency procedures, where applicable.
? Maintain the MR scanning equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Check to ensure emergency equipment is in good working order. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to responsible supervisor.
? Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and film processing, adequate clinical history and previous x-rays for comparison (if available).
? Assist radiologist during the administration of contrast media and practice medical and surgical aseptic procedures as required. Recognize allergic reactions and respond in accordance to company policies and procedures for emergent patient care.
? Assist with patient scheduling and patient preparation required prior to examination.
? Assure that ?red carpet? service is provided to patients, referring physicians, their staff.
? Conduct examinations with regard to patient?s age, condition or other special requirements.
? Comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations, the company?s policies and procedures, and The InSight Integrity Program.
? Perform other projects/tasks, as requested by the Company.
? Associates or Applied Science Degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
? ARRT (MR) Certification.
? CPR Certification.
? Appropriate State License (where applicable).
? At least one year?s experience as a MRI Technologist.
? Working knowledge applicable to MR scanning technology with specific references to cross-sectional anatomy, medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied to MR scanning.
? Ability to identify disease abnormalities and physiological processes while performing MR scans.
? Patient care standards and requirements.
? Quality assurance principles and practices.
? Customer service principles and practices.
? OSHA principles and practices.
? JCAHO standards of practice.
? Operate and adjust MR scanning and ancillary equipment.
? Schedule, organize and monitor patient flow to meet company productivity, quality, health and safety standards.
? Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
? Venipuncture Certification (where applicable).
? Maintain the confidentiality of patient records and complete administrative records and reports.
? Schedule, organize and complete work in accordance with required workloads.
? Read, interpret and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
? Understand and follow specifications and instructions.
? Capable of maintaining basic life support (CPR).
? ARRT (MR) Certification.
? CPR Certification.
? State License (if applicable).
? May be required to drive long distances to mobile locations.
? May be required to rotate on an on-call basis.
? OSHA Class 1 exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
? May require use of personal vehicle for business purposes
