Director of Advanced Client Services
As the Oracle and MS SQL DBA, you will be the go-to person for all Managed Databases instances. This activity includes the primary responsibility of the day-to-day DB maintenance and operation of both Oracle and MS SQL environments to include performance diagnosis and tuning, operations monitoring, backups, application tuning, query tuning, troubleshooting, and application-level change control migration.
Oracle and MS SQL Database administrator proactively monitors database management systems to prevent performance problems.
Perform Oracle and MS SQL analyses and evaluate database performance to maximize efficiencies and take advantage of tuning opportunities.
Perform complex database maintenance such as, but not limited to, executing complex, corrective action database utilities, designing script structures, appropriately defining indexes, analyzing requirements, and designing database access paths to meet performance requirements.
Provide installation, maintenance, monitoring and support for Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008, and 2012 databases
Implementation and support of application requested database development changes in the Microsoft SQL Server and Windows environments
Technical support of in house and 3rd party developed SQL Server applications, including software installation, upgrades, problem diagnosis, performance monitoring, evaluation and tuning recommendations
Interpret business and/or process requirements and create physical database designs of moderate complexity. This may include multiple components of a system and/or a collection of objects to include tables, views, stored procedures, keys, indexes, and constraints for an application.
Research and participate in the implementation of new database features.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of physical database design.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex, high-severity issues and/or mentor less experienced associates.
Identify, resolve, and/or escalate hosting issues according to procedural documentation and training
Creative problem-solving to identify the source of problems
Create or update documentation including network diagrams, procedures, and policies to ensure consistent support of client environments
Through client consultation, realize growth opportunities for production client environments.
Provide and obtain timely updates to/from relevant parties (internal and external)
Execute strong Problem Management to reduce re-occurring incidents
Provide consultative assistance to the Operations Center during off hours as needed
Review system and network configurations with Implementations to ensure successful implementation of services into production
Other duties as assigned
3+ years as an Oracle DBA using Oracle 9.x or later.
A minimum of three years? experience as a production support MS SQL Server database administrator
Oracle Software installation and new database setup
Oracle DataGuard experience a plus
Backup and recovery
Performance monitoring and tuning
PL/SQL Scripting experience
Experienced in Oracle Packages, Procedures, and Triggers
Oracle client configurations including ODBC data sources
24x7 production environment experience
Experience in administration of MYSQL and PostgreSQL Database servers a plus
Experience with the SQL Server Log Shipping, clustering, replication, database mirroring, and Always-On features
Experience with installing and supporting SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2012, particularly with features such as Integration Services, Reporting Services and Analysis Services
Familiarity with SQL, Transact-SQL and troubleshooting queries and stored procedures
Experience creating documentation of installation procedures, monitoring procedures, security policies, configuration changes, migration procedures, and best practices for development teams
Ability to learn new software and technologies rapidly
Experience providing on-call production DBA support including off hours and weekend support
Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work an off-hour schedule which may include weekend support for production emergencies
Senior technical skills in MS SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2012, including system installation and upgrade, backup and recovery, data server migration, database maintenance and support, release management, troubleshooting, performance tuning, developer and third party product support, configuration and support of DTS and SSIS jobs, SQL Server Agent jobs and maintenance plans
Bachelor?s Degree or equivalent education in related fields / or 5 years? experience in related field
5+ years? experience working in IT Service Provider industry at enterprise level
