Overview:In this position, you will assess product compositions or chemical formulations, research hazards and properties of the components, then determine appropriate hazard assessment according to country/region, for preparation of Material Safety Data Sheets. As an Author, you need to understand and adhere to global EH&S regulations and have a clear understanding of MSDS requirements for MSDS generation. This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Responsibilities:
Independently assess product compositions or chemical formulations to applicable country regulations. Refers to supervisor for guidance.
Research hazards and properties of components to make appropriate MSDS classification
Determine appropriate Hazard Assessments and MSDS phrases based on assessment.
Prepare MSDS documents utilizing a MSDS authoring platform (i.e., SAP, MSDgen, WERCS, etc.)
Completes all responsibilities as outlined on annual Performance Plan.
Completes all special projects and other duties as assigned.
Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in Chemistry or Life Sciences
18 months ? 3 years prior authoring experience
Good analytical and written communication skills
Solid knowledge of MS Office
Knowledge of regulations (i.e., Purple Book GHS, CLP, WHMIS, 49 CFR, 29 CFR, HazCom, Inventories, etc.)
Knowledge of SAP EH&S and/or MSDgen, WERCS
Basic knowledge of chemical compounds, families, and pharmaceutical products.
