MySQL Database Administrator LiveOps
LiveOps is seeking an experienced MySQL Database Administrator. This position will be responsible for helping to manage and provide active support for MySQL implementations in all environments and will report to the Infrastructure Manager.
Responsibilities:
Managing MySQL on Linux platform in Production, Staging, QA, and Development environments including installation, configuration, optimization, automation, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, etc. -- All that you would expect in a pure DBA role
Assistance in developing homegrown MySQL tools
Creating processes to ensure data integrity and identify potential data errors. In other words, help figure out appropriate monitoring techniques
Quickly troubleshooting database problems and development of preventive measures to maintain high availability
Estimating project duration, effort, resource load and cost
Qualifications:
Proficient in SQL (knowledge of MySQL quirks a major plus)
3 plus year experience with database administration; MySQL experience preferred
Experience working on a Unix/Unix-like platform; CentOS Linux preferred
Proficient in at least one scripting language - Ruby, Python, Perl, etc
Performance tuning and optimization techniques experience
Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with other team members on both short and long-term projects
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Microsoft SQL server
Experience with replication
Familiarity with web-based application integration
Telephony architecture experience
Experience with monitoring infrastructures; Nagios preferred
Experience with structured Change Management
Familiarity with Scrum/Agile iterative cycles
