HubSpot is looking for a MySQL database expert to help manage, tune, and operate our cloud based product. We have one of the fastest growing SaaS products on the market and process TB of data each day and billions of records across our MySQL, Simple DB, and SQL Server environments.
We invest in automating everything from server setup to software configuration so our brains are used for problem solving, not server software installation.
The gig will include building and supporting dev, qa, and production environments, operational scripting, databse tuning (index, disk i/o, other), and general database administration. We primarily use CentOS and RHEL. High Availability is not a question, we operate 24 x 7 and invest in our systems and tooling to meet that.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and support MySQL database replication
- Monitor and optimize MySQL database performance and capacity planning
- Tune and optimize the performance of all the staging and production database instances
- Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability
- Develop and optimize database design for new applications
- Min 3 years of experience as a DBA or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience with MySQL database design, implementation, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Managing large scale database system is a PLUS
- Demonstrated experience with Open Source/Linux development and production environment
- Possess creative ability, credibility, self-confidence and Independent
- Good team player with strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills
- Able to work under pressure and multi-tasking capabilities
- Previous experience as a member of an IT operations team is goodness
- Experience with cloud based environments makes for sunny days
- Self proclaimed nightowl habbits is in good company
