Configuring, deploying, testing and maintaining Silver Spring Networks hardware/firmware infrastructure in a geographically distributed 24x7 global customer operations environment.
Execute network maintenance tasks to include device provisioning, integration, documentation and testing for Silver Spring Networks hardware and firmware.
Complete transition of devices into production via change management across a large set of customers and geographies.
Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain Operational tools, which drive project and task efficiency.
Provide incident and problem management services related to customer and shared network devices.
Complete projects for upgrades, remediation and audit/compliance for large, scaled customer networking environments.
Maintain networks for scalability and availability while providing overall capacity management targets and forecasts.
Build and leverage automation to decrease overall network deployment and support cycle time.
Build documentation and capabilities for the NOC to perform routine network administration functions.
Complete audit and compliance reporting for all managed device configurations.
Provide 24x7 on-call support on rotation.
Designed, tested, deployed, and administered enterprise level, mission critical networks.
Networking experience with datacenter networks (LAN) and interconnectivity (WAN) including knowledge of IPv6.
Superior problem investigation and incident management skills to diagnose and remediate large-scale and often-challenging Operational issues.
Direct, hands-on experience managing, troubleshooting, and administering Linux/Unix environments and core services including DNS, NTP, SMTP and SNMP as it pertains to managing network devices.
Experience with monitoring standards and development of monitors for network uptime and performance. Understanding of SNMP, polling and log file monitoring and implementation of monitoring software such as Nagios, Zenoss, IBM Netcool, Zabbix.
Ability to write scripts in scripting languages including UNIX shell, Perl, Python, PHP, etc to improve automation of routine tasks.
Excellent organization and documentation skills.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, good decision-making, and manage multiple assigned tasks including providing regular updates and communication with key ticket and project stakeholders.
2-3 years of responsibly maintaining 24x7 availability and support on-call.
5-7 years of Technical Operations job experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Exceptional individuals with equivalent background and work experience also qualify.
Desired Additional Qualifications
ITIL V3 certification (foundations or higher).
Networking experience in a large-scale mesh network.
Highly desired experience with server automation software. BladeLogic preferred, but concepts via Opsware or other like frameworks applicable.
Experience with BMC technologies in the Service Automation, Service Assurance, Enterprise Service Management space.
