This position functions as a medical, clinical and outcomes liaison between Valeritas and key external customers to further scientific exchange and value discussion. The candidate provides product and scientific field support to Clinical, Sales and Marketing, as well as Managed Care and Government by using scientific information, outcomes data and pharmaceutical experience to communicate with health care providers (HCPs), Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare decision-makers, advocacy groups and industry organizations.
FIELD-BASED SUPPORT ACTIVITIES
Lead the dissemination and communication of medical, clinical and outcomes data to external stakeholders (i.e. healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders, formulary decision-makers, hospitals, managed care organizations, medical groups, etc.) within the region, as well as guide and implement quality initiatives
Provide medical, clinical and outcomes support for commercial field partners (Territory Managers and Regional Business Leaders) and Managed Markets partners (National Account Directors)
Establish relationships with HCPs, KOLs, Medical Directors, Pharmacy Directors, Certified Diabetes Educators, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Disease & Case Management Coordinators and Quality Improvement Specialists to support brand/disease value propositions, healthcare outcomes dissemination and quality improvement efforts
Provide scientific and clinical support for Valeritas marketed products and development projects
Develop and innovate communication strategies that will ensure the effective delivery of the brand value propositions
Collaborate with Marketing, and Sales Management to develop and enhance medical, clinical and outcomes specific information, services, materials and tools
Establish and maintain functional working relationships with Clinical Research Associates within the region to further scientific exchange, provide site and clinical trial nomination and support
Develop and present product and scientific updates as requested using approved materials and tools
Identify, coordinate and support investigator-initiated studies in the region and refer requests for research grants as appropriate
Support commercial and marketing initiatives with support for medical information services at conferences and Professional Meetings
Provide necessary training to patients, health care professionals, and their staff
COORDINATION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Assist with training sales representatives on product knowledge and understanding of technical information
Deliver approved presentations at Plan of Action meetings, sales training, advisory board meetings and speaker training activities as directed
Collaborate with cross-functional field partners to effectively utilize medical and healthcare outcomes information and services
Assist in preparing training materials
Identify, contact, develop and maintain relationships with health care providers and key formulary influencers and decision-makers to establish and/or further the knowledge of Valeritas product(s) and their appropriate use;
Prepare and conduct ongoing product and scientific updates for the Region
Identify academic centers and investigators to initiate and/or participate in clinical trials and identify key areas of future research
Align our key customer's educational and research needs with available Valeritas resources
Provide the latest emerging data in response to specific healthcare professional
Provide support to external stakeholders to analyze, incorporate and interpret medical and healthcare outcomes data
At least 5-8 years medical, outcomes and/or managed care liaison field experience preferred. Extensive experience in diabetes strongly preferred.
Other experience in healthcare quality processes at the provider, medical group and managed care levels, working in a Payor environment, pharmacy administration, etc. would be considered a benefit.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; including analytical and problem-solving, customer-centric orientation, collaborative personality and self-starter are considered essential
Advanced degree in health or biological sciences with professional licensure (e.g. PhD, PharmaD,etc) required
