Aurora Flight Sciences is seeking an experienced NC Programmer to join our growing team in Columbus, Mississippi. This position requires an action and results oriented individual who can effectively achieve demanding development and production goals. This individual must also be able to interact and communicate at all levels of the organization.
Establish project plans for continuous improvement activities, perform N/C programming on assigned machining, develop and implement cutter technology improvements, develop automated ply cutter programs with maximized nesting, work with the technicians to assure programs and processes are understood and correctly implemented. Capable of using Catia, Solidworks, Mastercam, and other design and numerical programming software
Develops 2, 3, 4 and 5 axis N/C programs that will produce design compliant hardware
Ensures that new and existing N/C programs are implemented/updated within established procedures, function properly, meet specifications, and schedule objectives.
Support the technicians to assure that N/C programs are validated before going into production
Provides technical support in solving product quality problems with new and existing products
Provide ongoing reports to department manager regarding project progress and project status
Work with internal and external subject matter experts to develope and implement cutter technology that improves quality, productivity, and increase machine capacity
Develop automated ply cutter programs that minimize waste and technician trim time for ply placement
Utilize Verisurf and Vericut and other N/C validation software and tools
Provide backup programming support for Automatic Fiber Placement and other machines
Stay current with software updates, provide training to partners and lead continuous improvement projects as it relates to assigned equiptment.
Minimum Requirements (education and experience):
Associate degree or higher in industrial technology or a related field of study education. Also, can subsitute equivalent professional experience for education
2 years experience as a N/C Programmer in custom manufacturing with composites, metals, manufacturing processes and/or tooling experience
Intermediate to advance experience utilizing MasterCam and Vericut
Design experience with CATIA V5 or equivalent computer aided design software
Ability to support multiple tasks while ensuring timely and cost effective completion.
Experience operating NC machining equiptment
Ability to work within manufacturing enviornment to include ligting and transporting objects up to 40 pounds as well as consistently stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb and kneel
Able to support production demands and schedule, may be asked to work extended hours or shifts
