Summary
This position is primarily responsible for network planning activities, product evaluation and procurement, the configuration of data communications equipment and maintaining the GCA network infrastructure. Performs network configuration activities to support project requirements and normal growth and change evolution. This position will be the one who maintains the network computing environment including but not limited to: establishing network specifications; maintains network documentation and diagrams; maintains network performance; secures network; prepares users; upgrades network; meets financial requirements; updates job knowledge; protects organization's value; accomplishes organization goals. This position also requires the flexibility to act autonomously at times while adhering to and enforcing all departmental and company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties
Operates and maintains network performance and monitoring tools and supports the associated maintenance and configuration process. Analyzes network performance metrics, highlights deficiencies, and develops solutions. Participates in the development, specification and communication of the corporate architecture plan. Ensures that architecture developed for individual projects is in line with the overall plan. Defines guidelines and builds recommendations and projects plans for capacity planning and required work Maintain and monitor local and wide area networks and supporting equipment. Ensure network devices meet company policies for archival to ensure recovery during a disaster or security event. Performs proactive assessments of existing infrastructure including but not limited to: performance trending, impact analysis, configuration and deployment standardizations and guidelines, process scheduling, preventive maintenance, and system design. Ensure discipline and job related diagrams and documentation are accurate and properly maintained. Responsible for network system planning and project work, maintenance and support of existing infrastructures, providing technical support to the Help Desk, customers and end-users, and archive related duties. Ensure supported systems, code, configurations and documentation comply with internal and external governing laws, policies, rules, and compliance measures. Follow departmental procedures to meet customer and client needs in an innovative and resourceful manner. Must be able to work effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure environment while paying a great amount of attention to detail and meeting assigned deadlines. Ability to manage multiple priorities with excellent follow-through to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. Maintains excellent communication with management and project teams regarding all aspects of their duties as it relates to their projects. Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and internal staff. Perform other related IT duties as assigned by management.

Experience
3-4 years of experience in network administration of LAN, WAN, and Internet multiprotocol environment. Network and/or network security certifications desirable. 3-4 years of experience in network administration of LAN, WAN, and Internet multiprotocol environment. Network and/or network security certifications desirable. Firm understanding of Internet Protocol, Cisco, Microsoft, Unix, Security, switches, routers, bridges and protocol converters. Thorough knowledge of supporting network environment of personal computer/network server hardware and assorted computer peripherals. Monitoring, administration, and reporting of the following: LAN and WAN networking components Network Circuits, wiring, and troubleshooting VPN and Remote Access Working knowledge of Firewall/VPN implementations. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 2000/XP workstations, Windows 2000/2003 Server and Exchange 2003) and Technologies (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, Active Directory and Group Policies). Must be proficient in problem solving techniques and time management skills with strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills, well organized, strong documentations skills with the ability to prioritize and meet assigned deadlines. This position requires the balance of competing priorities and the ability to make sound decisions within, and outside of the established policy. Ability to understand technical issues, track the progress of vendor and customer inquiries, and work through issues to resolution.
