The Network Engineer is a key member of the Business Aviation Service Operations team and will be responsible for delivering the highest quality 2nd line support and network performance monitoring and analysis.
You will be troubleshooting and assisting in recovery from system and network incidents as well as providing the 2rd line trouble-shooting support for technical issues.
In addition, you will drive the development of key performance indicators that can be used for system, network and product performance analysis and monitoring of the health of the products, services and network.
Provide the 2nd line support for technical issues escalated from the 1st Line Application Engineers and Technical Support Team.
Responsible for the troubleshooting and assisting in recovery from system, network and server incidents, and work with the business in permanent problem resolution
Drive critical analysis of key performance indicators to aid with continuous improvement efforts related to system and network quality and performance.
Work with other Aircell teams to develop and deliver service operations plans for new products and services.
Report analysis of metrics to product owner and management
Provide support view of operation of products to development and support team
Provide system and network related data to sales, product, engineering teams as requested
Communicate change event outputs to downstream teams
Participate in on-call rotation
Bachelor?s Degree in computer science, telecommunications, mathematics or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
3-5 years of experience supporting Linux servers
2 years supporting a server network
1 year supporting Windows servers
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot challenging issues in a network carrier environment using various sources such as log files, test applications, and other debugging tools (packet captures) as well as the use of databases and the creation of SQL queries.
Other Skills and Experience
Previous experience supporting data centers preferred.
Strong background in Linux Operating Systems with experience with CentOS
Background in networking including but not limited to: TCP, UDP, DHCP, RADIUS, SNMP, CDMA, mobile devices, HTTP, VOIP, SIP, SS7, and Wi-Fi preferred.
Ability to extract useful information from various logs with different formats
Able to interact with people at all levels of the organization and with customers; effective communication skills with the ability to work with other groups to understand their work processes and information sources and to aggregate, organize, and present data.
Ability to work independently and efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects.
Proficiency in trend analysis and the development of tools and techniques to further identify and classify problems.
Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new tools quickly and efficiently.
