About the job:
We?re seeking talented network engineers to help run the best telecommunications platform on the planet. The Carrier Operations team is responsible for overall architecture and day-to-day interfacing with all of Twilio?s carrier partners.
This role focuses on working with Twilio?s carriers and internal engineer teams on streamlining processes and handling escalated issues with our partners.
Successful candidates will have strong telco experience working with SIP, SMPP, and other telephony protocols. They will know how to interface with carrier teams and properly troubleshoot all ranges of issues from one-way audio to deploying new carrier interconnects.

Tackle some of the most challenging problems in the voice & messaging world.
Write quality documentation for other teams on new problems and how to resolve them in the future.
Work on new tools to improve quality of service throughout the network.
Be aware of changing quality on routes and how to fix them.
Look for ways to improve all facets of the team.
6+ years working in the telecom industry in an operations group.
A Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
You know and understand SIP and the associated protocols that come along with it.
A solid understanding of how SMPP works.
You live and breathe trace files.
Passionate. Persistent. Creative. You find clever ways around problems, or just plow through them.
You're a data junkie - you can look at large set of data and see patterns emerge that might not be apparent to the average viewer.
You?ve been on-call and you know what it's like and how important it is.
You really enjoy playing with new telecommunications tech.
