EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: EXEMPT REPORTS TO: Director, Network Engineering
JOB CODE : LOCATION: SEATTLE, WA
GENERAL PURPOSE: Under the general guidance of the Director of Network Engineering, the Network
Engineer designs, documents and supports MTN?s wireless, satellite, and terrestrial network and its related
services. In addition, the Network Engineer develops and documents network related products and standards to
be deployed on MTN?s network.
? Designs and documents network segments, products and services.
? Creates detailed technical documentation and specifications in the form of diagrams and white papers.
? Works with innovation team on new network requirements and implementations.
? Provides sales engineering support.
? Provides training and training materials on new products and services to Network and RF technicians.
? Provides 3rd level technical support to the Network Operations department.
? Assists the Director of Network Engineering with responses to request for proposals (RFP?s)
? Serves as back up ?subject matter expert? (SME) on all network related issues in the absence of the Sr.
? Schedules and executes upgrades on both the wireless and backbone networks.
? Helps plan adequate resources to maintain a balanced throughput through the wireless and satellite
? Other related duties as may be assigned.
EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
? BA or BS in a technical field or equivalent experience required.
? 3-5 years? minimum experience in network engineering required.
? CCNP or equivalent experience required
? Advanced knowledge of Cisco routers, TCP/IP, and general network theory desired.
? Experience with Linux-based software networking required.
? Experience with SDN (software defined networking) desired.
? Experience with wide area networking, including satellite, T1, DS3, OC3+, Carrier Ethernet desired.
? Ability to troubleshoot complex internetworking problems involving multiple routers, technologies, and
? Experience with MPLS, RIP V2, BGP and OSPF desired.
? Experience with UNIX, SNMP, and Shell Scripting desired.
? Advanced knowledge of network security and IPv6 a plus.
? Ability to work independently under general guidance and deliver results.
? Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to explain complex subject matter in simple but accurate
? Ability to work under pressure with aggressive deadlines.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS: Must be able to use a standard keyboard and read small LCD and CRT
Screens. Some travel will be required. Must be able to lift and carry rack-mounted equipment of various sizes
and weights up to approximately 40lbs.
