THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Position: Senior Network Engineer
Skyfire is looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to architect, design, deploy, manage and support our cloud hosted datacenter implementations.
Architect and design network infrastructure
Install, support, and maintain network platforms to support global business (corporate and production), and help support hosted customers with a high-uptime standard.
Provide direct customer support on escalated issues, collecting and analyzing low-level technical data, and communicating to management, internal partners, and vendors
Contribute to planning and implementation of network/datacenter expansions and new environments
Document network infrastructure and procedures, and provide training to co-workers at all levels
Perform detailed failure analysis, identifying root cause, proposing and performing remediation
Understand and communicate technical issues and implications to the business
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve network issues across all platforms
Rack and cable network devices and servers (requires lifting up to 50lbs)
Some travel to datacenter sites will be required, domestic and international
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Network device configuration experience (i.e. Cisco, Juniper, F5)
Strong working knowledge of Linux and server networking.
Demonstrated experience in working with other technical teams on solving large infrastructure scaling issues, including performance measurement, capacity planning.
Strong understanding and practical experience configuring and troubleshooting fundamental network protocols, including 802.11q, STP, HSRP, VRRP, NSRP, OSPF, BGP. TCP/IP
Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and provide leadership to cross-functional team members
Experienced interacting with content and service provider network operations in a datacenter environment
Ability to communicate concisely and clearly, both in verbal and written forms
Understanding of mobile technologies and concepts
Ability to implement network monitoring and management tools
Ability to gather technical requirements and develop reference architecture
Extensive use of Wireshark, Tcpdump and other network analysis tools
Some scripting background in one or some of the following: shell, perl
An expert level understanding of distributed computing concepts in an N-Tier application environment
More than five years of Network Engineering/Operations experience with a 24x7, consumer facing Internet application product
Hands on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and f5 including optimizing network availability and performance
Technologies used: Linux (RedHat and CentOS), Zabbix, Kickstart, F5, Cisco, Juniper
BS degree in Computer Science or a related field
Familiarity with large site (1000+ servers) and the associated scaling and management solutions including performance improvement
Ability and willingness to work in a large-scale, shared Microsoft and Linux environments.
