We?re looking for someone with serious hands on experience working on a large scale website or enterprise class environment to help run the PULSEPOINT Exchange. PULSEPOINT Technical Operations is responsible for operating, maintaining, securing, and supporting the infrastructure that:
? handles tens of thousands of simultaneous requests per second, billions of times each month
? evaluates, selects, and optimizes ad-serving based on advanced statistical and machine-learning models
? returns responses collected from dozens of parties in milliseconds
? is always evolving to meet market demands that change in days and weeks, not months and years
If working in an agile shop with a team of top-flight engineers building the system described above sounds interesting, there here are some things that you should know:
Job Duties:
? Manage change control for Network in multiple Java/Linux/Windows environments
? Network design & operations including security
? Systems management, including standards for system builds, configuration, and security
? Scale/Capacity planning for application and network hardware resource management
? Storage design, planning, and implementation along with systems team
? Production monitoring, support, problem/fault analysis, and performance tuning
Requirements:
? Networking (Cisco or other network products)
? Co-owner of network infrastructure to meet disaster recovery/high availably needs
? Managing and supporting infrastructure systems (switches, routers, firewalls) in co-located data centers and main offices
? 24x7x365 on-call monitoring and maintenance of mission critical systems, rotated amongst Operations Team members
? Effectively communicating technical information to team members, management, vendors
? Ability to establish work priorities and manage workload autonomously
? Documenting new and existing network operations processes/procedures
Things we?d like to see:
? Experience with cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. AWS/EC2)
? Experience working with Linux (we use mostly CentOS)
? Experience managing Java application (e.g. glassfish, tomcat, jetty)
? Experience with scripting (PHP, Perl, Shell) and automation
? SAN and NAS (EMC)
? Experience working with Hadoop/Grid Computing
? Experience working with distributed caches and Key-Value stores (e.g. Memcache)
? Experience working in clustered and distributed environments
? Experience working with automated configuration management (puppet , cfengine, etc)
? Experience working with virtualization ( Vmware, Xen, Virtualbox, LKVM)
? Experience programming in a high-level language (Java, C#, )
? Other evidence of passion, technical expertise, and accomplishment
