Description The Network Operations Engineer is a key member of the Business Aviation Network Operations team and will be responsible for delivering the highest quality 2nd line support and network performance monitoring.
The Network Operations Engineer is responsible for the development of reports that can be used for network and product performance analysis.
The Network Operations Engineer is also responsible for troubleshooting and recovering from network incidents as well as providing 2nd line trouble-shooting support for technical issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide 2nd line support for technical issues escalated from the 1st & 2nd Line Application Engineers and Technical Support Team.
?Take a lead role in troubleshooting and recovering from network incidents, and work with the business in permanent problem resolution
?Conduct critical analysis of key performance indicators to aid with continuous improvement efforts related to network quality and performance.
?Generation of standardized reports including checking of results, summarization of key findings and notable exceptions, and investigation of data anomalies. Also responsible for ad hoc report creation in response to inquiries from Senior Management and other departments.
?Develop tools and scripts for the processing of data and the use of advanced report generation tools to create new reports. Investigate new data sources to determine how the data can be used to create new reports, or enhance existing reports, to further continuous improvements.
EXPERIENCE:
?Bachelor?s Degree in computer science, telecommunications, mathematics or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
?Previous experience working in a wireless network carrier operational environment preferred. Strong background in statistical techniques, troubleshooting, database applications, and TCP/IP networking required.
?Strong computer skills with the ability to learn new tools quickly and efficiently.
?Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot challenging issues in a network carrier environment using log files, test applications, and other debugging tools.
?Effective communication skills with the ability to work with other groups to understand their work processes and information sources and to aggregate, organize, and present data.
?Strong data networking background including: firewalls, network authentication systems, SNMP, TCP/IP, CDMA, mobile devices, and WiFi.
?Ability to work semi-independently to clarify requests, collect and process data from existing and new sources, and work with other groups to understand underlying issues, driving towards completion of stated goals, seeking information and guidance where required.
?Proficiency in trend analysis and the development of tools and techniques to further identify and classify problems.
?Seasoned professional able to interact with people at all levels of the organization and with customers.
?Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects.
?Familiarity with the use of databases and the creation of SQL queries.
?Proficiency in the use of scripting tools such as Visual Basic 6, Visual Basic.net, Perl or Python.
?Experienced in the use of advanced report generation tools such as Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence and Excelsius.
