Required Skills

- Networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, and client/server programming
- Routers, load balancers and Firewalls (Foundry-Brocade/Cisco specific experience a plus)
- Design and implementation of VM systems
- Knowledge of large scale consumer website operations and infrastructure
- Ability to program in an administrative language (Perl, PHP, JAVA, Python, Ruby, Bash)
- Knowledge of the following databases: MySQL and SQL Server
- Knowledge of the following:
o Application Servers: Sun GlassFish, Tomcat, Resin, JBoss
o DNS
o Web servers: Apache, Nginx, Tinyhttpd
o Operating Systems: Linux and Windows
o Automation tools such as Cobbler & Puppet
- Manage a small team of System Administrators
- Experience in quickly triaging problems and driving to resolution
- Experience with a 247 on-call pager rotation
- Familiar with vendor support

Required Background

- More than 10 years of previous system administration experience

Desirable Background and Skills

- A degree in computer science or a related field.
- Programming background in any applicable language

Appropriate Responsibilities

- Perform primary system administrator responsibilities and lead others
- Design/implement complex local and wide-area networks of machines
- Establish /recommend policies on system use and services
- Responsible for purchase justification
- Member of the Internal Architecture Board.
