MegaPath Network Planner Responsibilities:
Planning, implementation and capacity management of Layer 1 / Layer 2 network in support of MegaPath?s facilities based footprint.
Build market strategy to manage incremental and embedded network expense, establish strategic partnerships, and maintain cost competitive solutions.
Manage off-net vendor network connections, including capacity, location, and financial viability.
Provide migration strategy as off-net vendor products are retired.
Provide technical expertise and leadership on the most efficient use of existing and new network technologies.
Demonstrate detailed understanding of current network configuration and technology to ensure capacity and financial efficiency of planned design.
Initiate work identifying current or potential problems in the network and appropriate solutions.
Provide direction for the development of tools to monitor, manage, and report on the network.
Lead the development of plans to define, augment, optimize, and reconfigure the network as growth dictates.
MegaPath Network Planner Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
BA/BS/MA/MS degree plus 8-12 yrs in Carrier Class Networks OR equivalent experience
Must have strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Must be well versed in all Layer 1 and layer 2 network transport protocols.
Must have strong understanding of building telecom business cases.
Must have strong knowledge of telecommunication provider solutions.
Must have knowledge of ATM, SONET and Ethernet.
Must have wide range of experience and ability to resolve complex issues in creative/efficient ways.
Experience working on complex issues and exercising sound judgment in selecting methods/techniques/criteria for obtaining results.
Ability to represent department and effectively interface with internal/external organizations and vendors.
Must have team leadership ability.
Must have extensive knowledge of carriers, carrier hotels, and long-haul and metro fiber availability.
