Descriptions and Requirements:
The MegaPath Network Security & Compliance Engineer assists and reports to MegaPath's Director of Security and Compliance ensuring all data flowing through MegaPath Network is secure, remains secure and is in compliance with all applicable security standards and practices. This includes maintaining and upgrading information security programs, processes, and procedures while at the same time monitoring information security systems' configurations, logs and reports. The MegaPath Network Security & Compliance Engineer interprets and enforces information security policies, analyzes data, and takes action on suspicious activities and anomalies on the MegaPath network. The MegaPath Network Security & Compliance Engineer is responsible for gathering forensic evidence needed to conduct investigations of security incidents.
This role breaks down to 80% project, 20% hands on and will involve a lot of coordination, understanding and communication of security concerns throughout the organization.
Create network security architecture standards for adoption of new technology
Identify, quantify, and provide design remediation for security risks as they relate to enterprise projects
Partner with business representatives in other teams to drive security strategy and direction
Perform assessments and compliance activities using centralized vulnerability scan engines to perform operating systems, network devices, databases and applications
Utilize a Security Information and Event Manager (SIEM) to: (1) perform collection and analysis of all operating systems logs, network device logs, network flows, intrusion prevention and intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment, network firewall, web application firewall and virtual environment logs; and (2) to provide centralized correlation, alerting, log archiving, asset discovery and behavior analysis configuration of all network/systems data, events, logs and other information
Perform web application vulnerability assessments and reporting using web application assessment software - which in turn, provides web application security intelligence to the web application firewall solution
Produce management reporting and metrics informing MegaPath's senior leadership real-time information security risk and exposure
Recognize and identify potential areas where existing security policies and procedures require change and/or new development for future business expansion
Provide information security matter expertise to MegaPath's technology teams and projects
Evaluate and recommend security software/hardware and its integration into existing architecture (Proof of technology)
Consult with business clients and 3rd parties on network and security architecture
Research and benchmark security infrastructure technologies as it relates to the organization
Ensure that the organization is leveraging the proper technologies to meet PCI, HIPAA, TL/9000, IS27001 and CPNI compliance.
Knowledge of system, network, and architecture security best practices
Strong project management and communications skills
Strong interpersonal skills to build/ maintain ongoing business relationships
CISSP and CCIE certifications or equivalent experience required
Professional security management certification, such as a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or other similar credentials desired
In depth knowledge of information security practices related to PCI, HIPAA, SOX, CPNI, and OWASP application security
Solid understanding of information security standards and frameworks (NIST, ISO27001, etc.)
Experience implementing security at the application, network and operating system levels
Experience with mainstream IT & Network Technologies, such as products from Oracle, Microsoft, Cisco, Fortinet and Juniper
BSCS or Bachelor's degree in Business with a computer emphasis required
7-10 years of Information Security experience required
5+ years experience as a Unix systems administrator
7+ years experience in routing and switching in Cisco IOS & JunOS environments.
Deep knowledge of enterprise security and associated aspects of security to an organization
Ability to define security strategies that ensure every client deployed MegaPath application, system design and architectural enterprise security solution design is in fact, secure to industry standards.
Experience with Security Information and Event Management and Vulnerability Management systems required (Q1 Rater, ArcSight, LogRythm)
Able to handle moderate to complex resolution without escalation and with minimal supervision.
Able to exercise professional judgment within defined procedures
Need to have strong knowledge and hands on experience in the following areas:
Wireless security, 802.1x
IPSec & SSL-VPNs
Scripting (Perl, Python, RoR etc.)
Hashing & Encryption
Network design, risk assessment, audit, and IT security assessments
Information Risk Management: Content filtering technologies, application firewalls, vulnerability scanners, LDAP, security incident response, encryption, Identity Management (IdM)
O/S: Linux Windows (2008 Server, XP, Windows 7,8), UNIX, , etc. and their security controls
Network: MPLS, VPN, BGP, OSPF, SIP etc.
Security: Firewalls, , IDS/IPS, Wireless Security
Data Governance: Data Loss Prevention, File Integrity Monitoring, SIM/SIEM
