The Network Security Engineer (NSE) provides expert technical advice and guidance to management and other technical specialists on critical information security issues. The NSE provides expert technical advice and guidance to management and other technical specialists on critical IT security issues.
Conduct technical risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs and conducts systems security evaluations, audits, and reviews.
Conduct routine vulnerability scans to identify vulnerabilities in networks, application, and other systems.
Configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and intrusion prevention systems.
Configure, install, and manage audit log consolidation and analysis tools.
Provide technical assistance in development and testing of Disaster Recover and Continuity of Operations.
Other duties as assigned
Experience and Skills:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of major operating systems (i.e., Windows, Linux, CISCO, etc.).
Proven supervisory and communications skills, including giving formal presentations.
Must pass a National Agency Check (NACI clearance)
Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field. With a Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field 3 years of experience in IT is required. An Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field requires 8 years experience. With 10 years of IT experience no degree is required.
Five years of experience in the integration of engineered security requirements into computer-based systems
Demonstrated experience designing, developing, ad integrating secure IT processes into computer systems based on understanding customers information gathering and manipulation requirements.
Appropriate professional certifications, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) may be substituted for experience on the basis of 2 year per certification
The work environment characteristics are representative of those of an employee encounters while performing essential functions of the job in a typical office/workstation situation. Will be working out of our client location, therefore must represent the company in a professional manner. Able to work sitting or standing at desk and operate a computer via standard input devices such as using a keyboard and reading information on a monitor.
