Provide leadership, technical guidance and training for the NOC Technicians (Tier 2/3 escalation). Work closely with Production Engineering (Core and VOIP), Network Engineering and Field Operations Technician during scheduled maintenance windows to ensure continued quality of service with a minimal customer impact. Resolve highly complex network issues and problems. Actively involved in vendor and equipment management and specific project management related to maintenance activities and increasing network capacity as required. Day-to-day operational support of MegaPath?s nationwide, MPLS-enabled, all-optical IP network.
Coordinate and assist Production Engineering in service maintenance activities
Provide Tier II support for maintenance or outage related activities
Support Operational Efficiency Tasks (i.e. alarm consolidation, ticketing system, etc.)
Provide Tier I training and support for new products.
Participate in scheduled internal/vendor meetings to resolve chronic and/or bug related problems
NOC escalation contact for all Layer 3 single end-user issues that require Tier II intervention
Support and execute network transformation tasks as defined by the strategic business plan
Provide ongoing training feedback via RIDs, documentation, and processes for Tier I (NOC) based on MOPs or EHD handoff from Production Engineering within 30 days of receipt when applicable.
Additional duties as business needs dictate
Experience with various Network Operations Center tools (trouble ticketing systems, SQL databases, standard TCP/IP network troubleshooting tools and Network Management Systems
Experience using Unix/Linux operating system, Windows2000 and Windows NT operating system. Basic understanding of networking equipment (Cisco, Nokia, RedBack, Harris, etc.)
Strong analytical and organizational skills. Solid oral and written communication skills, strong problem solving ability
Excellent English verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Depth of understanding of common network troubleshooting procedures
Experience in Wide Area Network Operations or other Internet environments
Knowledge of Soft Switch based routing
PRI/Q931 signaling and routing.
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Good problem solving ability and methodology
Experience with MS Office product suite
Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
Constant computer typing and use of mouse
Near constant sitting at workstation
Near constant use of telephone with or without headset
