Network Systems Administrator Link_A_Media Devices
Responsibilities:
The Systems Administrator will report to the IT Manager and will be responsible for providing hands-on support to maintain servers and network infrastructure for a semi-conductor engineering design firm in Santa Clara. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who can effectively communicate: document projects and issues, develop action plans and deliver results on time. Experience with numerous hardware and software platforms including but not limited to Solaris, Linux, Microsoft, VMware and Cisco. Strong Linux knowledge is essential to be successful in this role.
Required Skills:
Excellent Verbal and Written Skills - must be able to demonstrate
4+ years experience in systems administration and network support issues
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills required
4+ years experience in deploying and supporting UNIX systems including but not limited to: Solaris, Red Hat Linux, CentOS, Arch Linux, Scientific Linux & Fedora
3+ years experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems (Win XP & 7), Microsoft Office (2010) and networking protocols in a large corporate environment (over 150 users)
Technical understanding of network protocols and services including: TCP/IP, FTP, DNS, DHCP, Wins, SMTP, NFS, ZFS, NIS
Strong knowledge of LDAP & SAMBA
3+ years experience administering Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange would be highly desirable
Experience / Exposure with setting up and maintaining Networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, VPN) technologies using Cisco, Dell and HP network gear
Additional Skills:
Experience with VMware vSphere ESXi and Virtual Center is a plus
Knowledge of backup solutions such as Symantec NetBackup & BackupExec and other solutions is highly desirable
Experience with scripting protocols, especially utilizing shell or Perl is a plus
Must be able to effectively prioritize and be a good time manager in a highly dynamic work environment
Qualifications:
5+ years of Systems Administration experience
Associate degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field
Certifications in Microsoft, RHEL or Cisco are a plus but not essential
